My passion is to bring attention to all sports- here is my take on March Madness.
Bring the ACTION.
March 19-April 4th. This is when the ‘action’ begins. In my mind the perfect pump up music for pre-game jamming is Skrillex. You can listen to this song while reading my blog. Just click the link below.
Let me explain what March Madness is all about and why people crave this month to watch and devour the love for college basketball. March Madness showcases the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Men’s and Women’s Division one (D1) college basketball to fight for the national championship trophy.
What is a bracket? How do I make one?
A bracket or a March Madness pool is a form of sports betting used on the annual NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship each March in the United States. A bracket is a type of form that can be made on-line or printed out to predict the outcome of each game during the March Madness tournament. Friends, family or groups of people who like friendly competing can share together for bragging rights or for money.
I have my bracket filled out- I’m currently competing against my co-workers at KTSW Sports in a non betting competition. It’s a fun way to be interactive with friends and at the same time keep up with all the games in the tournament. I think it’s a great way to watch and follow all the games for my bracket predictions.
To make a bracket you can create one during the tournament by going to these websites:
I simply made my bracket through ESPN since my Sports Director sent me that link. Any site will be easily accessible to make your very own bracket.
Why I love the madness:
March Madness is so great because anyone can watch the games, follow the teams, join in on the conversation, make a bracket and talk to friends or family and even co-workers about the hype. Games are basically on every night and it’s a great escape to cheer on the underdog school or cheer on the team that is predicted to win.
A ‘Cinderella’ team?
Yes, a team can be called a ‘Cinderella’ or ‘Cinderella Story.’ Oddly said this is referred to when a team achieves far greater success than predicted. What I like to call an underdog team. Cinderella stories and teams will gain media attention as the team moves further along in the competition. While researching online I looked up that ‘Cinderella’ teams can also be called a surprise package, surprise packet, or a fairy-tale run. But I think the media favorite term is Cinderella since it’s easy to remember and honestly just fun to say.
Info to know:
Today is March 21st, and the tournament is currently in the round of 32 and the winners of this round will head into the sweet 16- which has 16 teams left, since the games are single elimination. While filling out a bracket on the side of each team name there will be a number. This number will be the ranking of the team heading into the tournament. Obviously #1 will be a far greater ranking than #16 or etc.
Join the action. Join the fun. It may seem like a foreign language to some but it’s easy and everyone can do it. More women are making brackets and I encourage all females to add to the contribution of March Madness. This is not just for males but for alumni and fans of sports. Even if you don’t care for basketball- still watch some games that have Cinderella teams and you won’t be disappointed.
Happy bracketing! Let the ‘madness’ begin!
