“We just made history. I was on a mission,” Lloyd said Monday on “CBS This Morning. “It was just an epic win and we created history.”
“(I) did imagine playing in a World Cup final and scoring four goals or so,” Lloyd said. “It’s amazing what the mind can do and I was just focused and wanted to come here and help my team win in any way I could.”

#USWNT now has three Women’s World Cup titles (1991,1999, 2015)

  • U.S. held a four-goal lead in the first 16 minutes (Lloyd with hat trick)
  • U.S. lost to Japan in 2011 in penalty kicks (This re-match game was a huge opportunity for the U.S. to get a comeback win)
  • First sellout crowd in a Women’s World Cup final
  • Carli Lyold received the Golden Ball (MVP) as player of the tournament (scored twice in about 135 seconds as #USWNT led 2-0 over Japan in fifth minute)
  • Lauren Holiday made an epic U.S. lead 4-0 with a 54 yard shot from midfield!

    {According to VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP)– It was also the fastest hat trick in World Cup history — men or women — and Lloyd became the first American since Michelle Akers in 1991 to score multiple goals in a World Cup final. The only other hat trick in a World Cup final was when England’s Geoff Hurst scored three times against Germany in the men’s 1966 final at Wembley.}
  • Lloyd scored six goals in seven matches during the monthlong tournament, raising her international total to 69.
  • U.S. is 25-1-6 against Japan & a 3-1 advantage in World Cup meeting

The U.S. WNT showed appreciation to their fans during the FIFA World Cup tournament as the U.S. WNT players used the #SheBelieves.

#SheBelieves campaign is a message to young girls that they can accomplish all their goals and dreams that nothing is impossible without believing in yourself.

As a team, we are always excited to be able to positively impact young fans, especially young girls,” said U.S. WNT captain Christie Rampone. “The #SheBelieves initiative allows us to interact with the fans and encourage them to set high goals and strive to reach them no matter what the obstacles.” (Source:

Soccer fans globally watched in awe Saturday on Fox Sports the brilliance of Barcelona’s squad talent win the Champions League title 3-1 over the Italian Juventus FC (football club). This is the 5th time Barcelona has won the Champions League.

What is the Champions League?
For people who do not know the importance of the Champions League Finals think of the Super Bowl in America. But all the top European football clubs compete against each other starting with a group stage. 8 groups consisting of 4 teams play each other twice to get the most points possible to move forward to the final 16. Next the final 16 teams through to the final 4 teams are all two legged games throughout the spring. Then the last two teams battle it out in the final for the trophy and the highest recognition in football.

BARCELONA: Why they are #1 Right Now

Chelsea F.C. Wins The Barclays Premier League Championship 2014/2015

Chelsea F.C. (Football Club) fans will forever remember the date 5-24-15.

Yesterday was a brilliant day for Chelsea soccer/football fans as the blues won the title and the astounding recognition for worldwide fandom (even for Houston Texan star J.J. Watt).

Chelsea finished the season remarkably, coming from behind to beat Sunderland 3-1 at Stamford Bridge UK. They also finished as the only team across all four divisions not to face a home league defeat.

I was lucky enough to have been taught the soccer basics by a lovely English family the Bonningtons this past year as their family showed and expressed a deep passion for the Chelsea F.C. franchise. As a Green Bay Packer American Football fan, I immediately knew what it felt like to completely devote time and energy into a team. I’m blessed to have watched the astounding historical games Chelsea pulled off this year.

Get To Know Chelsea:

Doubles(Two titles in a season)

Soccer/football is the #1 sport in the world for a reason. After a year of watching the Premier League matches… I have grown to love this amazing sport. For anyone who is a one sport kind of fan- I inspire you to try something new and try a brand new sport of some kind– you’ll be amazed it’s worth a shot.

Quote from an avid Chelsea fan after the win yesterday:
“What a fabulous day! Chelsea collected their 4th Premier League Trophy in front of a jubilant Stamford Bridge. If there is anything I have missed living here in Texas are these days, singing my heart out in the Shed End cheering on my heroes. Saying goodbye to Didier Drogba was always going to be poignant. Have to love the way he was carried off on the shoulders of his team mates. How they love The Drog at the Bridge. How fitting also that John Terry collected the trophy having played every second of every match at the age of 34. He still has at least one, maybe two really good seasons ahead of him. Well done The Blues. A fabulous season leading from start to finish.” – Stuart Bonnington

And I think because of the passion of every English player and every English supporter, and every English journalist for the game, most of the game is played with passion, love for football and instinct, but in football you also have to think.
– Jose Mourinho

Soccer- The Globalized Sensation

Ronaldo. Beckham. Messi. Pele. Lampard. Maradona. These are just a few of the world’s best soccer players.
There’s only one sport that is #1 in the world. Soccer (futbol).

Nothing can compare to the globalized sensation that lures fans in by millions upon millions. The numbers are growing rapidly as the fan base continues to soar. Soccer is the most popular sport in the world in player numbers. In the 2006 FIFA Big Count listings, there were 265 million soccer players in the world. With just having the FIFA World Cup in summer of 2014 in Brazil, the global reach surpassed the 3.2 billion efforts for the 2010 South Africa totals.

Living in America here are some reasons why I think soccer prevails.

  • Popularity in #’s
-Why look at the most popular sport in the world in player numbers. In the 2006 FIFA Big Count listings, there were 265 million soccer players in the world.
  • Inexpensive $
Have a budget? Want to play a pick up game with freinds? Try-out  soccer. Just need a soccer ball & some cleats.
  • Time benefits
If you are like me, I can’t stand useless timeouts/commercials/ that distract from the momentum of sport games. Soccer plays start to finish- with halftime. No timeouts. What a strange concept for most American sports fans. But I’m telling you the game goes by much faster!
  • Concept/Rules
If you are completely a soccer newbie like I was a couple of months ago- learning the game and rules is not impossible. The game is easily comprehended by young children to adults. If you understand American Football in the complexity of set plays and regulations learning  soccer will be a piece of cake.
  • Playing Soccer = Fit body
If you love running- soccer is the sport for you. Pro athletes run miles in matches adding to their fit physique. I’m telling you the effects of soccer keep you smiling!
  • Atmosphere
Never watching a soccer game growing up before- I watched the FIFA 2014 World Cup- WOW- The fans go absolutely bonkers. Watching Chelsea English Premiere League games with people from England at college it’s absolutely amazing to see how excited people get when a goal is scored. GOAL! One word brings such joy to soccer fans.Spoken from a real true soccer sports fan in Texas born and raised in England-  Josh Bonnington quotes that “Soccer is the best sport in the world. It’s a beautiful game. Nothing can compare to it. Nothing. Having your team win (Chelsea FC) and be number one in the English Premiere League is brilliant, especially when you can brag to Manchester City fans.”

Here is a YouTube sensationalized video that has peaked with over 20 million views. It’s worth a good laugh! Enjoy.
